A Unified Logical Framework for Reasoning about Deontic Properties of Actions and States

چکیده
This paper studies some normative relations that hold between actions, their preconditions and effects, with particular attention to connecting what are often called ‘ought be’ norms do’ norms. We use a formal model based on form of transition system ‘coloured labelled system’ (coloured LTS) introduced in series papers by Sergot Craven. Those works have variously presented formalism (an ‘action language’) nC+ for defining computing (coloured) LTS, another, separate formalism, modal language interpreted LTS used express its properties. consolidate these two strands. Instead specifying the obligatory prohibited states transitions as part construction coloured nC+, we represent those construct from given regular (uncoloured) one. also show how connections previously treated fixed constraints can instead be defined within representing

Epistemic Actions and Ontic Actions: A Unified Logical Framework
We present a reasoning about actions framework based on a sum of epistemic logic S5 and propositional dynamic logic PDL together with a ‘no forgetting’ principle, also called perfect recall. We show that in our framework an action may be decomposed into a purely ontic action followed by a purely epistemic action. We also show that the latter is completely definable in terms of simple observatio...

Propositional Dynamic Logics PDL s provide a suitable formal framework for modeling actions and reasoning about them How ever the basic language of PDL s lack several features that are impor tant for a sophisticated treatment of actions In this paper we present a new logic that is obtained by enriching the basic PDL with powerful modeling constructs that allow us to represent determinism and no...
متن کاملTowards a Logical Framework for Reasoning about Risk
Evaluating the effectiveness of the security measures undertaken to protect a distributed system (e.g., protecting privacy of data in a network or in an information system) is a difficult task that, among other things, requires a risk assessment. We introduce a logical framework that allows one to reason about risk by means of operators that formalize causes, effects, preconditions, prevention ...
متن کاملExpressive Logical Framework for Reasoning about Complex Events and Situations
Business and enterprise management processes become more and more event-driven. Being event-driven means that processes rely on receiving events to monitor the execution progress, and issuing events to initiate its next stages. What is more important, being event-driven enables these processes to become more active and flexible. There is a paradigm shift today from passive processes to active o...
